About the course

This course is a panoramic of Spanish literature since the beginning of the Golden Age until the 20th century. The course will combine primary texts from the studied period combined with contemporary texts and other media resources that will lead to the discussion of problematic issues raised by the main text. In this course you will learn to read and analyse texts critically and to draw connections between fiction and reality and past and present.

Unit 1: Columbus and the Indigenous reality.

Unit 2: Golden Age. Cervantes' Representation of the Gypsies. 

Unit 3: Romanticism. The Romantic Man vs. the Independent Woman. 

Unit 4: "Preguerra", "Posguerra" and Everything In-between.

Grammar sections: Monday/ Tuesday 10:00-10:55

Literature sections: Wednesday/Friday 12:00-12:55
